English Language Development Tutoring

I help multilingual learners grow confident using English in school and everyday situations. Sessions focus on building speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills so students can fully participate in their classroom learning — not just complete assignments.

Based upon what language development level your child is at, your child will receive support with:

• understanding directions, lessons, and academic vocabulary
• expressing ideas clearly in complete sentences
• reading comprehension and discussing what they read
• writing paragraphs and longer responses
• preparing for classroom participation and presentations
• homework support while strengthening language skills
• developing confidence communicating with teachers and peers

I tailor each session to the student’s current level and gradually increase expectations as their skills grow.

CALP Tutoring

Many students learn to speak English quickly, but school requires a more advanced academic language. I help students build the language needed to understand lessons and to demonstrate what they know. Together, I will help your student develop the academic English (beyond basic conversation skills) needed for reading, writing, and explaining their thinking in school subjects.

• Sessions focus on the language used in textbooks, assignments, and classroom discussions.

• Students learn how to answer open-ended questions and organize complete written responses.

• We will strengthen vocabulary and sentence structure required for upper-grade learning and testing.

• This support bridges the gap between speaking English and succeeding academically in English.
